Well, more on Route 66! Farhan sang a slightly different version of the song at a function post Akademi Fantasia....What do you think of it?

'Route 66'

"(Get Your Kicks On) Route 66" is an American popular song, composed in 1946 by Bobby Troup and first recorded that same year by Nat King Cole.

Troup conceived the idea for the song while driving west from Pennsylvania to Los Angeles, California, and the lyrics — which include references to the U.S. highway of the title and many of the cities it passes through — celebrate the romance and freedom of automobile travel. In an interview he once said the tune for the song, as well as the lyric "Get your kicks on Route 66" came to him easily, but the remainder of the lyrics eluded him. More in frustration than anything else he simply filled up the song with the names of towns and cities on the highway.

The lyrics read as a mini-travelogue about the major stops along the route, listing several cities and towns that Route 66 passes through...................Wikipedia

This song was beautifully sung (with a lil' mispronunciations tho..but oh well..that's a small matter which can be easily improved. Moreover, she must had been very nervous then..)by Farhan during the prelude of AF4 which saw her being selected by the juries to be one of the 12 finalists to enter 'Akademi Fantasia'. The rest I guess,is history....

New York, New York at Bisik Bistro, KL

This broadway number 'New York, New York' is one of Farhan's favourite songs. Aah..a.and she was hoping she could sing that song during her stint in AF! Too bad.. she was never given the chance!

Anyway, she finally got the opportunity to croon out that number recently! That particular event took place on Dec 26, 2006 at the Bisik Bistro in Kuala Lumpur.

Aku Saja Yang Tahu... ('Only I Know...')

'Aku Saja Yang Tahu' or 'Only I Know', was the first song that Farhan had to sing during the finals of Akademi Fantasia 4, 2006. This number was composed specially for her by a local known composer, Ajai, with lyrics written by both him and Cikgu Fauziah Nawi.

During her stint in the 'Akademi', Farhan was highlighted as the student who kept everyone guessing (her teachers especially) about what deep 'secrets' she might have held! This was because she seemed to be very tight on her emotions so much so there were times she failed to get 'her feel' across to her audience. Well..whatever it was, it's her right anyway to be privy to her secrets ... but all the same Farhan, the audience must be able 'to feel' your song ...always...

Aku Saja Yang Tahu:

Woo...
Kepuasan yang ku rasa di jiwa
Sejak ku di gelar kekasih
Oh di situlah
Terjadi semua kenangan yang tak pernah aku lalui

Mengapa masih jadi begini
Aku sendiri yang tak pernah mengerti
Sedangkan aku tak pernah percayakan cinta
Di hati hanyalah kenangan yang masih melanda jiwa

Dan masih aku mencari segala kenangan
Di dalam erti yang besar
Walau kita saling bercinta

Ku yakin kasih masih begini
Namun aku yang bersalah terhadapmu ...yeah...

Repeat

Oh...ku yang tahu...Woh....ku yang...yeah...tahu..

'Spain'

'SPAIN' is Al Jarreaus's famous scat-jazz - the second song Farhan had to sing during her AF finals. If there were butterflies in her tummy that night, well.. this song certainly had most of her fans all anxious and restless too! Why? Cuz 'Spain' isn't an easy song to sing right?!(And...how many Malaysians atually know what a scat-jazz is anyway??) It was indeed a 'dead heavy' task given to the poor girl! Especially so, considering the short time that she had! Not only did she have to master a challenging song like 'Spain' but at the same time, she had to memorize and improv too on another song which had been written and composed specially for her as one of the finalists!

Anyway...despite all the 'christmassy comments..da..da..' about her outfit,(tch..tch..Aznil, Aznil..) Farhan, to the delight and relief of all her fans and to the admiration of all the critics that night, gave a truly splendid performance!! She simply 'Wowwed' everyone! She was just..well..fabulous! That night, her 'star potential' truly outshone and outdid all the other contestants and placed her at a level way above the rest!! She's really THE NEW MALAYSIAN TALENT to watch out for! I doubt, given the same time and situational constraints, if any of our more established entertainers could sing that song any better or even well enough...??!!

Still Got The Blues...!

Farhan caught the attention of many Malaysians, mine especially, with her rendition of 'Still Got The Blues'. That was during the third concert of AF4 which saw her ranking shot up from a trailing last straight to the very top at the concert's closing!! I just LOVE the way she rendered that song in her dixie-blues-kind-of-style! NO one else, as far as I know, whether locally or internationally, had ever sang that song the way she did and...boy, did she bowl me over! True blues babe! She definitely GOT me (line, hook and sinker!) to be a BIG fan of hers! Sorry about that Gary Moore...!
